JAIPUR: A day after Mahipal Maderna was thrown out of Ashok Gehlot cabinet, the CBI is working on the modalities to arrest him. The central agency is studying the call details of Maderna’s phone and searched the places where he visited frequently after Bhanwari Devi went missing. A two-member CBI team also questioned a local Congress leader who is close to Maderna in Kishangarh.

On Monday, adding to the woes of Maderna, PCC chief Chandrabhan justified the decision to remove Maderna from the cabinet. The Rajasthan High Court too once again came down heavily against the state government for failing to trace Bhanwari Devi.
Sources said the CBI is examining the documents and is believed to be making a strong ground for Maderna’s arrest. The agency is likely to file an application to take two arrested men – Sohan Lal Vishnoi and Balia alias Baldev Jaat -- on production warrant and after interrogating them, it might make a move to arrest Maderna on the basis of their interrogation.
The CBI officials, who have made the Jodhpur Circuit House their office, however, refused to comment. The officials had on Sunday taken the statements of Bhanwari Devi’s husband in Borunda village, especially on his allegations about Maderna’s involvement in her disappearance. Amarchand had lodged an FIR accusing Maderna of rape, kidnap and murder of his wife who had gone missing on September 1 and is still untraced.
Meanwhile, Balia and Sohan Lal Vishnoi had been sentenced to judicial custody. Sources in the local police had claimed that Balia and Sohan Lal Vishnoi, both had linked Maderna to the kidnapping in different ways.
