Chaos rules Mehangai Rahat Camps in Jaipur on Day 1

Total chaos prevailed at the Mehangai Rahat Camps in Jaipur’s Walled City on the first day as the organisers were unable to manage the crowd since 10am, leading to heated arguments between the public - who were left befuddled by the mismanagement and the delay in issuing Mukhyamantri Guarantee cards - and the staff. Meanwhile, it was left to the poorly equipped and inadequate strength of police constables to contain frequent outbursts of anger.

JAIPUR: Total chaos prevailed at the Mehangai Rahat Camps in Jaipur’s Walled City on the first day as the organisers were unable to manage the crowd since 10am, leading to heated arguments between the public - who were left befuddled by the mismanagement and the delay in issuing Mukhyamantri Guarantee cards - and the staff. Meanwhile, it was left to the poorly equipped and inadequate strength of police constables to contain frequent outbursts of anger.
At the camp near Badi Chaupar, out of 160 registrations on Day 1, only 40 got the CM guarantee card on the spot.

The rest were asked to collect their cards the next day as all were used up. At a camp near Chaugan Stadium, only 50 registrations were done on the first day as the site crashed due to server outage. “Aaj server down hone ke waje se, pura mamla gadbad ho gaya” (Today due to server glitch everything has gone haywire) said one the organisers at the camp near Chaugan Stadium.
Meanwhile, announcements were made at the camp near Badi Chaupad asking the security personnel to organise the crowd and make them stand in a queue. Even the organisers admitted that they had not anticipated such a huge crowd on Day 1, which resulted in complete disorder. As the crowd got impatient, the organisers announced, “Jinka registration ho gaya, sirf aadha ghanta ruk jayen. Aapka registration card taiyaar karke aapko baant diya jayega..sirf aadha ghanta baith jayen aap log. Sukun se baith jayen.” (Those who have been registered please wait for half an hour. Your registration card will be ready and distributed..please be patient for half an hour). However, at 4pm, too, there were long queues in both the camps.
Many beneficiaries were unaware about the documents required, while others complained about the delay in getting registrations done. “I have come here to get myself registered for the Annapurna food packet scheme, but they have registered me for the social security pension scheme, which I am already getting. This is the level of mismanagement here.
Now, nobody is hearing us,” said Bano Begum, who lives in Rawalji Ka Bazar, Gangapol. “We came at 10 in the morning. The registration was done within a couple of hours (at 12 noon). But we haven’t received the card yet. They’ve asked us to come tomorrow (Tuesday) to collect the card. We came here to get ourselves registered for the Gas Cylinder Yojana,” said Prem, Dulichand’s wife, who lives in Ramganj.
