Heritage gets high priority as tourism focus turns to infra

Deputy CM and finance minister Diya Kumari announced a slew of initiatives to strengthen the state's position as a global tourism and cultural hub. During her speech, she earmarked Rs 975 crore for tourism infrastructure development, including the development of 10 iconic heritage destinations. For niche tourism, a Rs 100 crore Tribal Tourist Circuit was announced, while Jaisalmer's War Museum will undergo expansion. The Budget also introduced the Shekhawati Haveli Conservation Scheme, aimed at preserving the region's famed frescoed mansions, alongside the establishment of the Gogaji Art Centre in Bikaner.
Religious and spiritual tourism will see new investments, with infrastructure upgrades at major pilgrimage sites and the launch of the Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme, offering AC train facilities for 50,000 pilgrims. The state will also celebrate 300 years of Jaipur with the Govind Dev Ji Art Festival, reinforcing its cultural identity.Ranvijay Singh, Senior Vice President of the Federation of Rajasthan Hotels, said, "The announcements are expected to unleash a fresh lease of life for the sector that is the lifeline for a large base of stakeholders." Aviation infrastructure is set for a boost with an Aero City near Kota airport, development of 29 airstrips, and new flying training organisations in Pratapgarh, Jhalawar, and Jhunjhunu.
