JAIPUR: Clash between two groups of students belonging to different castes at Subodh College on Thursday left one student injured. According to sources, some junior students severely beat up a senior within the college premises. They allegedly smashed his head and legs with sticks and iron rods. The clash was the outcome of an old rivalry.
According to sources, the incident took place around 9.30 am.
"As Jitendra Singh – a third year BA student entered the college gate, over six students armed with hockey sticks and iron rods attacked him," said an eye-witness. Panic spread in the college and a huge crowd gathered at the spot while the attackers managed to escape. College administration informed the police and a team rushed there.
"Jitendra Singh has lodged an FIR, but he has failed to identify the attackers," said a police officer.
The college administration has also launched an inquiry. "A committee has been formed under vice-principal Dipesh Jain. Action would be taken against the guilty after the committee submits report," said a college official.
At least six cases of violent clashes have been reported in the college in the last one year.
