Jaipur: The postmortem of 22-year old Australian woman, Kathleen Adam Broom, who was found dead in a hotel near Ramganj Chaupar on Thursday, was held at SMS Hospital in the presence of Australian embassy officials on Saturday.
The body was handed over to them after it. Police said prima-facie the death was due to heart failure. However, the exact cause will be known only after the viscera and post-mortem reports come out.
The police are ruling out possibility of any foul play in the death.
The woman’s family members were also expected to come on Saturday, but they did not come. The woman was a resident of Fitzroy in south Australia. “We have handed over her body to the embassy officials,” Samir Dube, ACP, Ramganj, said. “We have recorded the statement of hotel staff and her boyfriend Anthony James, who belongs to Mill Park – a suburb in Melbourne. Anthony has been asked to stay in Jaipur till the completion of inquiry,” officer added.
The woman had left for India on December 12 along with her boyfriend. They first went to Delhi and then came to Jaipur on Wednesday. The two checked into room number 103 of the heritage hotel ‘Karnot Mahal’ . Kathleen died in sleep.
