JAMMU: A cave-in at the construction site of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway Thursday resulted in the death of two labourers and injured four others at Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
“The labourers were working in a deep pit dug for the construction of a bridge over Devak river when a heap of soil collapsed on them,” an official said.
The district administration, National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force launched a massive rescue operation.

After two hours of intense efforts, four labourers were pulled out. They were rushed to a hospital in Jammu where their condition is stable. Two more labourers, buried deeper, were rescued after heavy machines were deployed. They succumbed to injuries in hospital. They have been identified as Lal Singh of Jammu and Shobin Kumar of Bihar.
