JAMSHEDPUR: As the saying goes, politics makes strange bedfellows.
While on one hand, an ugly fight broke out between the supporters of former Jharkhand chief minister and
BJP leader Raghubar Das and his bete noire, Jamshedpur East
MLA Saryu Rai, on Surya Mandir premises over a Chhath venue, on the other hand, state minister Banna Gupta was seen sitting next to Das and enjoying a musical programme in Jamshedpur.
Turf war between Congress and BJP also took place in Kadma Chhath ghat area on Sunday, which was brought under control by local police. Both the camps alleged that they had torn each other’s posters put up near the ghats. Several FIRs and counter FIRs have been lodged by both the groups after the incident.
Das had organised a musical programme at the temple on Chhath on Sunday evening. At the programme, Banna Gupta, the state health minister, who is also the MLA from Jamshedpur West, was seen sitting next to Das and enjoying the programme.
As per Das, it was a religious function and politics had nothing to do with it.
