JAMSHEDPUR: State transport and tribal welfare minister Champai Soren was airlifted to the Apollo Hospital in Chennai for advance medical consultation on Monday.
The 67-year-old tribal JMM leader, who is suffering from diabetic-related ailments, has been airlifted down south in an air ambulance for advance consultation from expert doctors who treated him earlier.

East Singhbhum DC Vijaya Jadhav said, "The ultrasound and chest x-ray reports of the minister are okay. His vital signs are also fine. The minister has some diabetic issues for which he has been airlifted for advance consultation."
Jadhav clarified that the minister is not suffering from Covid-19 or related ailments. Senior officials of the administration were present at the Sonari aerodrome when the minister was airlifted.
Soren was undergoing treatment at the Tata Main Hospital (TMH) for the past two days. Earlier in the day, the DC visited the hospital and enquired about his health with the doctors attending him.
"Champai da was admitted to the hospital with complaints of cold and fever late on Saturday. His sugar level was not under control and he was not feeling well," said JMM leader Mahaveer Murmu, a close aide of Champai.
