Kanpur: In an alleged suicide attempt, a 24-year-old man, troubled by his marital woes, tried to jump into the Ganga River from the new Ganga Bridge in the Kotwali Ganga Ghat area of Shuklaganj in Unnao at 7.00am, but the passersby stopped him, and called the police.
When the cops arrived, the man held their feet and said, “Let me jump. I am very troubled by my wife.”
The cops counselled him and took him to the station for questioning.
The man, resident of Mohalla Gandhinagar, Shuklaganj, had a love marriage six months back, and had been living a troubled married life.
It was reported that before the incident, he also had a quarrel with his wife, after which he decided to end his life.
Police said there were injury marks at several places on his body.
