City jeweller gets another letter demanding Rs 10 cr

KANPUR: A city based jeweller has once again received a letter with death threats here on Wednesday. The letter dropped by somebody at the Bengali Mohal residence of jeweller Dhruv Agarwal has now threatened to kill his son Shivam, who is into the leather business.
Shivam meanwhile told TOI that the miscreant had dropped the letter at the ground floor entrance of his double-storeyed house at around 4 am.on Wednesday.
"I was busy working when at around 4 am, I heard a loud knock on the door. I went downstairs and found a two-page letter. I immediately alerted the police control room and also informed the local Collectorganj police station and lodged a complaint against the unknown sender", he said.
"The sender, who has once again introduced himself as Zahid Husain, warned Dhruv Agarwal that the deadline of August 15 set by him for sending him Rs 10 crore is over. His son Shivam is now on his radar".
The jeweller handed over a copy of the letter to the Collectorganj police, following which security was stepped up at Dhruv's house in Bengali Mohal and his business establishment near Pipal Kothi in Nayaganj. The police have provided two constables to guard the house and a couple of policemen to guard business establishment of the jeweller.
"Additional security measures have been taken from Wednesday morning and will continue until the threat subsides. There is no 'Jihadi' outfit behind it, and the letter seems to be sent by some mischievous element," CO Vivek Tripathi said. The jeweller had earlier received a letter on July 27 by an ordinary post at his shop in Pipal Kothi Nayaganj demanding Rs 10 crore.
Two arrested: Two were arrested for duping a man of gold chain in the city on Wednesday. Police said the two miscreants, introducing themselves as salesmen, entered the house of one Sandeep Kansal in Pandu Nagar on Aug 13. They snatched his mother's gold chain and fled. "An FIR was lodged and police started investigation on the basis of CCTV footages of the area," said SSP Shalabh Mathur. The miscreants were identified as Kale alias Ashwini Duggal and Lucky alias Lalit Vij, said the SSP.
