Kanpur: Ram Naval Kushwaha won the coveted position of treasurer in the Kanpur Bar Association's annual general election defeating his six opponents.
He polled 1409 votes, outpacing his closest rival, Shyam Kumar Dixit, by a margin of 84 votes. Dixit secured 1325 votes, while Kamal Kumar Verma clinched the third spot with 811 votes. Approximately 216 votes were deemed invalid.
Gaurang Trivedi emerged victorious for the joint secretary's post, getting support of 1235 advocate-members and surpassing his nearest contender Vivek Singh by 188 votes. Singh obtained 1047 votes while Dharmendra Kumar Gupta secured the third position with 1031 votes. Around 126 votes were declared invalid.
Shiv Pratap Singh Chauhan won the vice-president election, garnering 1358 votes among the seven candidates vying for the position. His closest rival, Vinod Kumar Shukla, received 1163 votes. Virendra Kumar Pasi emerged victorious for the secretary's post capturing 2694 votes, while his nearest competitor Krishna Kant Tiwari secured 1877 votes. Akash Tiwari clinched the joint secretary publication's post, getting 1475 votes against the second-placed Atma Prakash who obtained 1170 votes.
Pankaj Dixit got victory in the joint secretary library's post, garnering 2198 votes, while Anil Babu Chaudhary finished as the runner-up with 1166 votes.
Indeevar Bajpai and Amit Singh had already been declared as the elected president and general secretary respectively on October 26.
