Sapna of Kanpur, Balram of UP Police win 1500-mtr race

Kanpur: Sapna Srivastava of Kanpur and Balram of UP police won the 1500 mtr race in 29th UP State Open Athletics Championship-2022 held at Guru Govind Singh Sports College Lucknow on Saturday.
Sapna defeated her team mate Yashi Sachan by 00.05 sec. She clocked 5:02.16 sec. and Yashi took 5:07.93 S. Kajal Patel of Chandauli stood at the third place with a timing of 5:12.20 sec.
In the men’s event, Balram got a tough challenge in defeating Dheeraj of Mathura.Balram clocked 3:51.16 s. and Dheeraj clocked 3:52.10 s. Aman Kumar of Sultanpur got third place clocking 3:53.63 seconds.
.According to PK Srivastava, secretary, UP Athletics, the UP team will participate in 61st National Inter-State Athletics Championship-2022 to be held at Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium Chennai from June 10 to June 14. The state team will be selected on the basis of performances during the meet. tnn
