Adulterated fuel affects motorists
KOCHI: Motorists had a tough time on Sunday night after they filled their vehicles with petrol from a petrol bunk at the outskirts of the city.
One after another, the engines of the vehicles developed mechanical failure and broke down midway.
Following complaints from the vehicle owners, a police team reached the petrol pump situated near Aluva junction and checked the petrol which was supplied from the outlet.

“We could smell kerosene in petrol. There have been allegations against the petrol pump that they have mixing kerosene with petrol and selling it. Engines of most of the new generation vehicles will not work if the fuel is adulterated with kerosene,” said Aluva sub inspector PA Faisal.
The officer said that following strong protests from the locals, the pump owner was forced to shut down the pump.
“We have asked the petroleum company to check for the quality of the petrol supplied from the outlet” the officer added.
