KOCHI: The
Kerala Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA) will be organising a virtual get together of doctors today, to ease their stress. Besides cultural and art performances by doctors and family members, celebrities are also expected to join in.
"It is a war-like situation and we can't take leave or stay away from duty," said Dr Vijayakrishnan, general secretary, KGMOA.
"We have to focus on the Covid fight. Doctors and other healthcare staff have been on Covid treatment and prevention duties for the past five months. This has seen their stress levels increase at alarming levels. That's why we decided to organise a motivational and recreational programme for the doctors and their families. Our prime objective is to motivate the doctors as we have to continue to be engaged in the fight against the pandemic for quite some time."
The programme to be held on the zoom platform will start at 7pm. The organisers are planning to accommodate as many as 1000 participants. "We have invited celebrities like music composer M Jayachandran," Vijayakrishnan said.
There will be an interactive session as part of the programme and doctors can raise various questions regarding Covid patient management. A briefing on the Covid situation in the state also will be made and special practices to be taken for avoiding the spread among healthcare workers is also on the agenda. It is understood that several doctors have been taking medication to reduce their stress.
