Kolhapur: District guardian minister
Satej Patil on Monday said the Architects and Engineers Association in Kolhapur has drafted the detailed project report (DPR) for strengthening and expansion of the Babubhai Parikh bridge underpass and the same has been approved.
The association took the initiative to restructure and expand the only railway bridge underpass located in Kolhapur city connecting Central Bus Stand with Rajarampuri — two of the busies areas in the city.
The bridge is over 50-year-old and minor repair works have been carried several times.
Speaking at ‘Buildo 2022’ an exhibition organised by the association, Patil said, “The DPR for Babubhai Parikh bridge has been approved. The association has taken proactive steps to address concerns faced by the city. We need the merger for city’s development and need to talk to villagers. The association can take a lead in convincing the villagers to merge with the city.”
He added, “In the next three to four years, infrastructure boosting tourism potential of the district will be completed. We need to focus on building the capacity of the district for growing tourism. Places like Amba can be developed into a hill station and can easily accomodate 1,200 tourists on a daily basis.”
Ajay Korane, president of the Architects and Engineers Association, said they will provide every possible talent and help to design projects and plan for city’s growth.
