Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Tuesday directed the state to appoint a nodal officer in every district to expedite "sensitive" criminal cases, like crimes against women, Pocso and NDPS.
Justice Tirthankar Ghosh made this observation during the hearing of a bail plea filed by Pallab Das, who was arrested for rape in 2018. But Justice Ghosh rejected the bail plea.

Justice Ghosh noted cases involving crimes against women or minors are pending for years in the lower courts. The HC remarked there is a lack of coordination and oversight in these cases. tnn
