Cabaret queen Miss Shefali breathes her last
Veteran dancer and actress Arati Das, best known as Miss Shefali, who rocked the cabaret space in Calcutta in the ’60s and ’70s, breathed her last this morning. Not only was she a fantastic dancer, Miss Shefali had even worked with Satyajit Ray in films that include Pratidwandi and Seemabaddha. Ill health, however, has been keeping her away from limelight. Earlier in April last year, she had to be admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata due to internal bleeding. Being a single woman with no savings at all, her immediate kin was having a hard time to arrange the money for her treatment which was quite costly. The hospital expenses were later borne by actress Rituparna Sengupta. The actress even took to her Twitter account to pay respects.
