BOLPUR: CID on Friday took charge of investigation of the alleged torture on a woman by policemen in Birbhum’s Sattor village.
Though the woman’s family members said they didn’t have any faith in any branch of the state police, they spoke to CID officials for more than an hour on Friday and responded to all their questions.
A four-member CID team, led by special superintendent Soma Das, reached Sattor on Friday morning and visited the house of Sabur Seikh, whose wife Hitunnesha Bibi was allegedly tortured.
On Thursday evening, Seikh got his wife released from Burdwan govt hospital on risk bond. Seikh told newspersons and investigating officers that his wife was not being treated properly at the Burdwan hospital and that they were being pressurized from various circles.
Delegates of the National Commission for Women will also come to Sattor on Saturday. Seikh said, “Trinamool
Congress supporters roughed up my father in law at Kalamdanga village today. They also threatened my father in law of dire consequences if he did not withdraw the case. We are living under threat.”
“We do not have any faith in police and CID. We think CID will try to protect the policemen who tortured my wife,” he alleged.
