Convict gives cops the slip

KOLKATA: A man serving a life term got the better of two constables and escaped into a crowd outside R Ahmed Dental College on APC Road in broad daylight. The constables have been suspended and a manhunt has been launched for the convict.
Mohammad Rafique alias Chachu, a dacoit serving a life term since 1996, was lodged in the Dum Dum central jail. On Monday, he complained of severe toothache.On reaching the hospital, Rafique was made to walk between two constables. Suddenly, he pushed the cops and started running. Witnesses told the police that Rafique jumped over the divider and fled towards Lenin Sarani.
