MALDA: Six people were killed when a crude bomb exploded in Bishbighi early on Tuesday morning. However, instead of informing the police about the incident, the villagers chose to cover it up and bury the dead bodies. Although the police super did not concede to the fact, cops were sent to Bisbighi for an enquiry.
It was learnt that on Monday night a group of 10-12 miscreants was binding bombs at the house of one Jahirul Sk.
Around 4 am villagers woke up to the sound of a huge explosion and rushed to the spot. They found that one portion of Jahirul's house was blown off and six mutilated bodies were scattered about. Besides, there were some heavily injured persons. The injured fled when the villagers rushed in. The villagers informed the police and later identified the bodies -Aijul Haque, Ajijur Sk, Kabir Sk, Masiul Sk and Alauddin Sk to be natives of Bishbighi. Along with them there was the body of one Daud Sk who belonged to Shovapur, a border village.
Local villagers alleged that over the last few months a turf war was on between two groups of miscreants in the village. Firearms, bombs were used frequently. TnnDistrict police have also alerted Murshidabad counterpart as the Dhulian of Murshidabad was just on the other side of river.
