KOLKATA: A day after chief minister
Mamata Banerjee stressed the need for construction of a skywalk near Kalighat temple, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation on Saturday decided to prepare a detailed project report (DPR).
At a meeting held at the civic headquarters, municipal commissioner Khalil Ahmed proposed to engage a consultant for the skywalk project at Kalighat.
According to a civic official who attended the meeting, two spots came up during the discussion for skywalk which will connect Kalighat temple. The first one — a 500 metre stretch between the S.P. Mukherjee Road and the temple and the second — an 800 metre stretch between Gopalnagar bridge and Kalighat temple. However, the KMC authorities will select a venue finally after submission of the report by the consultancy firm and talking to Kolkata police.
