KOLKATA: A giant cake, fireworks, music, food and a lot more. But this was no birthday bash. The lawn inside Utsarg and Utsav complex came alive as the residents celebrated the complex’s 12th anniversary on Tuesday evening. The Times of India’s Times Evening programme was a part of the anniversary do.
The complex and its 3,000-odd residents in Survey Park were decked up for the occasion.

The presence of Bengal Ambuja managing director Harsh Neotia made the evening even more special.
“Fifteen years ago, we had dreamt of a residential complex where people would live together like a big family. I am happy to see that the dream has been realized here,” said Neotia. The complex came up as a joint venture between Bengal Ambuja and West Bengal Housing Board.
The children had a gala time at the sit-and-draw competition. The participants were divided into eight categories. Ansul Guha won the prize in the pre-nursery section, Kushmita Pal for the class I group, Srija Nayak for class II, Mohammad Junnaid for class III, Labonya Chowdhury for class IV, Srija Naskar for class V, Sakshi Chokhani for class VI and Oishika Saha for class VII.
Magician Sandip’s tricks cast a spell on the kids. Many tried to get closer to the stage to try and see through his act. Even elders were seen enjoying the performance.
After Neotia cut the anniversary cake, fireworks lit up the sky over the lawn.
“Today’s get-together is special as it celebrates 12 years of togetherness. We are thankful to Times of India for being part of the celebration,” said secretary of the complex’s anniversary celebration committee Suman Chakraborty. Later, there was an antakshari completion followed by a performance by Calcutta Music Club and a sumptuous dinner for the residents.
