Kozhikode: A complaint has been lodged alleging that UDF tried to influence a voter by offering money.
The complaint was filed with Marad police by Swaminathan of Kottekkattu, against two persons including Congress mandalam president Rajeevan Thiruvachira.
The complaint states that Thiruvachira, along with another person from Nilambur, visited Swaminathan's shop at Kottekkattu and attempted to influence him by giving Rs 2,000.
Swaminathan, a voter in booth no. 2 of Marad, alleged that the incident occurred on Wednesday morning. In his complaint, he stated that Rajeevan and another person from Nilambur came to his shop and pressured him to accept money. The complainant alleged that UDF leaders allegedly asked him to vote for their candidate and not to serve as a booth agent for LDF.
However, Rajeevan denied the allegation, stating that the complaint is baseless. He said they had only visited the shop to maintain friendly relations with Swaminathan, a former mandalam secretary of Congress.
