Injured Pang school bus driver dies at TN hospital

SLUG-Valparai accidentKozhikode: Noushad Ali (39), the driver of Pang GLP School's bus who was undergoing treatment at Coimbatore Medical College after being injured in the accident at Valparai, succumbed to his injuries early on Wednesday. He is survived by his wife, Seenath, a teacher at Vazhengal LP School, and their children Faheem Najid and Sanha Fathima.Ali was on ventilator support and in a critical condition. Ali, a native of Muthukurussi in Perinthalmanna, had sustained severe spine and rib injuries. His surgery was scheduled on Wednesday, but he died before it could be carried out.Ali had joined Pang GLP School as a bus driver one-and-a-half years ago and had previously worked at a pipe company in Elamkulam. His body was brought to his house in Perinthalmanna at 3pm and later shifted to his sister's house at 5pm. The burial took place at 5.30pm at Vazhengal Nooraniya Masjid burial grounds.Meanwhile, Ali's family members alleged that he did not get proper treatment at the hospital. They said though they had requested to shift Ali from the hospital in Coimbatore to a private hospital in the city itself, authorities at the hospital allegedly did not allow it saying they needed approval from the district collector or the district medical officer.In the meantime, Masnin (10), who escaped with minor injuries in the ghat road accident, was discharged from the hospital in Perinthalmanna. Masnin, one among the injured when the tempo traveller plunged into a gorge on the Pollachi-Valparai ghat road, had been shifted from the hospital in Pollachi for treatment. Her mother Shakeela died in the accident.Also, Mohammed Fayis, who drove the tempo traveller and is undergoing treatment at the hospital in Coimbatore, will be shifted to a private hospital in Perinthalmanna. His relatives said his condition has improved.
