Truck driver hurt after steel bomb explodes in Kannur

Kozhikode: A tipper truck driver was injured after a steel bomb exploded during earth removal work carried out at Meppad near Panoor in Kannur. The driver, Shamith Lal P C of Pallichal, Vadakke Poyiloor, was injured in the explosion which took place at 9am. An earthmover was engaged in works for extension of the house of one Abdul Salam when a steel bomb, which was hidden under the ground, exploded. The house had been shut for quite some time. Police and bomb squad conducted inspection at the spot. Kulavallur police have registered case under sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act in connection with the incident.
