LUCKNOW: Of the 13 women in the fray for the city’s mayor post,
BSP candidate is the richest while Lok Dal party nominee is the poorest, showed poll office data.
Shaheen Bano (45) of BSP has assets worth Rs 27.29 crore. She is the wife of BSP leader Mohammad Sarwar Malik, who has contested the 2022 UP assembly elections from Lucknow North constituency. On the other hand, Madhu Sen, who filed her nomination from Lok Dal party has assets of only Rs 3.3 lakh.
According to the declaration in nomination forms, independent candidate Nalini Khanna (55) is the most highly qualified candidate.
She has done her PHD from Lucknow University (LU) in 2003 and promised to make the city smart if elected.
Samajwadi Party’s mayor pick Vandana Mishra (74), has done MPhil in international relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. If elected she promised to restore the glory of Lucknow.
Independent candidate Manju Doharey (55), who is high school passed, is the least qualified among all.
Other candidates who have applied for the mayor’s post come from different professions like lawyers, social workers, entrepreneurs and homemakers.
