Corruption-free recruitments helped UP become India’s growth engine: Yogi
Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday asserted that transparent and corruption-free recruitment has become the foundation of Uttar Pradesh’s transformation from a ‘BIMARU’ state into one of India’s leading growth engines.
Addressing a programme for the distribution of appointment letters to 932 selected candidates across 21 govt departments, the CM said that merit-based recruitment was essential for effective governance and development.
“Before 2017, corruption and favouritism weakened the system, and appointments were often made on recommendations of influential people or through bribery. A person selected through corrupt means can never contribute to progress. Instead, such practices only lead to decline,” he remarked.
Highlighting UP’s strengths, the CM said the state was blessed with fertile land, abundant natural and water resources, a strong MSME base and the country’s largest youth population.
“Despite these advantages, UP once became synonymous with backwardness, forcing many youths to hide their identity while travelling outside the state,” he said.
Hailing the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission for conducting recruitments in a transparent and fair manner, Yogi said recruitment agencies and boards in the state were now setting examples of integrity and efficiency.
He stressed that transparency in recruitment should also reflect in the conduct and work culture of newly appointed officers throughout their service careers. The CM advised the candidates to develop discipline and dedication. “Hard work put in during the first 10 years of service would lay a strong foundation for the next three decades of professional life,” he said.
The CM also noted that over the past nine years, the state govt has distributed appointment letters to more than nine lakh youths. He said these opportunities would not have been possible without a stable and efficient govt committed to ensuring good governance.
“Providing employment and utilising the talent of young people across sectors has played a major role in transforming UP into a major contributor to India’s economy,” he said.
Congratulating all 932 newly appointed officers, the CM said they were now part of a governance system working to implement the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and contribute to the state’s continued development.
