BADAUN: Claiming that the dissident group enjoys the support of 35 legislators, convener of the save BJP committee Ganga Bhakt Singh on Wednesday made a fresh demand that the Mayawati-led government in Uttar Pradesh prove its majority on the floor of the house.

BADAUN: Claiming that the dissident group enjoys the support of 35 legislators, convener of the save BJP committee Ganga Bhakt Singh on Wednesday made a fresh demand that the Mayawati-led government in Uttar Pradesh prove its majority on the floor of the house.
Talking to reporters here, Singh alleged that the chief minister has started ''persecution'' of legislators who had raised a banner of revolt against her style of functioning and to counter this ''harassment'', the dissident MLAs would launch a mass agitation.

Earlier in the day, Singh, along with a group of dissident BJP legislators including Ravindra Pundir, Ramashish Rai and Bharat Tripathi had met jailed independent legislator from Kunda Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, who has been arrested on charges of criminal intimidation on an FIR lodged by BJP MLA, in the Banda jail. Singh alleged that dissident legislators were being implicated in false cases on the direction of the chief minister and said, "we will not take things lying down", he said.
