Fuel prices rise again in Lucknow within days
Lucknow: Fuel prices in Lucknow have been hiked once again, just four days after a steep increase on May 15 triggered by the West Asia crisis, further burdening residents and transporters. The latest revision by oil marketing companies (OMCs) came into effect on Tuesday, pushing petrol and diesel rates higher across the city.As per the latest data, petrol price has gone up from Rs 97.55 per litre on May 15 to Rs 98.42 per litre, registering an increase of Rs 0.87. Diesel has also witnessed a hike of Rs 0.91, rising from Rs 90.82 to Rs 91.73 per litre. Premium fuels have seen a similar upward revision, with XP95 petrol climbing from Rs 106.13 to Rs 107.00 per litre, up by Rs 0.87, while XG diesel has increased from Rs 96.43 to Rs 97.34 per litre, marking a jump of Rs 0.91.The back-to-back hike comes close on the heels of the May 15 spike, when petrol rose by Rs 2.86 and diesel by Rs 3.01 per litre. The repeated increase in rates has sparked concern among daily commuters, cab operators and goods carriers, who fear a rise in transportation costs and a cascading effect on essential commodities.Despite the surge in prices, officials maintain that fuel supplies remain stable, with adequate stock levels ensuring uninterrupted availability across UP.
