LUCKNOW: To enhance the scale of Kajri Mahotsav as part of its efforts to conserve the folk music and art of UP, the state government has extended financial support to several districts.
An official spokesperson on Friday said that Rs 25 lakh has been approved for the Kajri Mahotsav to be organized in Azamgarh, while Rs 5 lakh each has been approved for Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Basti and
Gorakhpur.
The spokesperson said that the Yogi Adityanath government has decided to give patronage to the rural environment of the state, folk art culture and guru-shishya sangeet parampara.
Through this scheme, Efforts will be made to benefit ‘bhajan kirtan mandalis’, ‘nukkad natak mandalis’, ‘guru shishya parampara’, local folk songs, and dances, ‘bhajans’ and ‘sanskar geet mandalis active at the gram panchayat level. Besides, to ensure availability of musical instruments in each gram panchayat in the state, the culture department has already been instructed to provide a grant for the purchase of musical instruments like harmonium and ghungroos.
