Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court on Thursday directed Central govt to take a decision within three weeks on a plea by Karnataka-based BJP worker S Vignesh Shishir, who has been in the spotlight for filing petitions against
Rahul Gandhi, seeking Z+ security cover.
A division bench of Justice Shekhar B Saraf and Justice AK Chaudhary observed that the petitioner had already submitted a representation before the Centre and instructed authorities to decide on it expeditiously.
Earlier, while hearing the same petition on Aug 28, 2025, the court had directed the Union home ministry to provide round-the-clock security to the petitioner by deploying a personal security officer from the Central Armed Police Forces.
However, through a fresh application, the petitioner sought Z-plus security cover, contending that the threat perception against him had increased substantially and the existing security arrangement was inadequate. He also sought security at his residence.
Appearing for the Centre, senior advocate SB Pandey informed the court that he did not received instructions on whether any decision had been taken on the petitioner’s representation seeking Z-plus security.
Taking note of the submission, the court directed the authorities concerned to take a decision within three weeks.
