LUCKNOW: Every nook and corner of the city has been decked up for the festival of
Janmashtami, to be celebrated on Thursday.
The devotees appeared to be completely soaked in 'Krishna bhakti' on the eve of the festival.
The temples across the city were elaborately decorated with strings of colourful lights and flowers.
Several tableaux depicting the various stages of Lord Krishna's life were attractively displayed at many places.
The tableaux at the Reserve Police Lines premises and 35 battalion of PAC in Mahanagar are also ready. "As always, we have focused on tableaux depicting the entire '
Krishna Leela'," said a person associated with the work.
So, be prepared to watch how Krishna was born in the prison, Kansa killing the infants of Vasudeva and Devaki, Krishna being carried by his father to Mathura, Krishna dancing on the Kali Naag's hood etc, playing holi with gopis, stealing makhan, killing demons like Pootna and finally Kansa's death. "Call him Narayan, Govinda, Gopal Hari or what you feel like, the 'makhanchor' has a habit of sneaking into our lives, even if we are not of religious kind. As I am his devotee, I never miss an opportunity to come here," said a devotee, Garima Shukla, who fasts till midnight and celebrates 'Krishna janma'.
