Mahavir Jayanti today, OPDs in govt hosps open till noon

Lucknow: The outpatient departments (OPDs) in govt hospitals across the city will operate until 12 noon on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. However, major medical institutions like King George's Medical University (KGMU) and Ram Manohar Lohia Institute will remain closed. Emergency services will function without interruption on Thursday. Hospitals including Balrampur, Civil, Dufferin, Lokbandhu, Jhalkaribai, Rani Laxmibai, Bhaurao Deoras, and Ram Sagar Mishra will provide OPD consultations until noon. Services at Community Health Centres (CHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and urban health centres will also be available until 12 pm. Radiology and pathology tests will continue during this period. Balrampur Hospital's Dr Himanshu Chaturvedi confirmed that emergency care will be available 24X7, while Dr VK Sharma from Ram Sagar Mishra Hospital said free medicines and diagnostic services will be provided to the patients. KGMU spokesperson Prof Sudhir Singh said that routine surgeries and diagnostics will remain suspended, but emergency admissions and investigations will continue.
