SP’s model of women empowerment confined to slogans: UP BJP chief
Lucknow: UP BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary on Friday attacked the Samajwadi Party over reports of an assault on a woman district president of the party in Chandauli, allegedly by SP functionaries at her residence.
Chaudhary accused the SP of hypocrisy over its repeated claims of championing women's rights and social justice. He said the alleged episode exposed the "real face" of SP's much-publicised PDA politics.
"The new version of SP's PDA is now 'Peeda, Daman aur Apmaan' (pain, oppression and insult)," he remarked.
"Samajwadi Party speaks about women's dignity and empowerment from public platforms, but the treatment meted out to its own woman office-bearer reflects a stark contrast between its claims and ground reality," he said.
Chaudhary alleged that SP's model of women's respect remained confined to slogans and posters, asserting that women in UP were aware of the "character and conduct" of the party.
