LUDHIANA: A second-year engineering student of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College who was taken to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital following fever died here on Tuesday. He has been identified as Niranjan Kumar from Churu, Rajasthan.
College chief warden Jatinder Kapoor said, "At around 6.30pm on Tuesday, second year student Niranjan Kumar of BTech, mechanical engineering, complained of fever and was taken to a specialist.
After returning, he went to sleep. He was rushed to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in the morning. His body was moved to the civil hospital for postmortem. The exact cause of his death will be ascertained only after the report comes in." Dr Manvir Walia of DMC said he was brought dead to the hospital.
His attendants said he was suffering from fever. Doctors who conducted the postmortem said they would make a statement after the release of the postmortem report in a day or two.
