Cong could have parted ways with DMK mutually: Karti
Madurai: Sivaganga Congress MP Karti Chidambaram on Thursday acknowledged that his party and the DMK could have mutually parted ways, but maintained that the Congress did not betray the DMK by extending support to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and said the criticism over the matter was unwarranted.Addressing reporters, Karti said, "The way Congress split from DMK was not right; DMK cannot be destroyed in Tamil Nadu and they have a future. Congress could have acted similar to the VCK or the Communists before joining the TVK."He emphasised that they faced the election with DMK with a full heart and only took a stand to support the TVK because the election results were not favourable. "Congress supported the people's vote that a stable secular govt should be led by TVK chief Vijay," added Karti.Karti said that both TVK and DMK will remain major political parties and added that underestimating the DMK is ignorance.
