MADURAI: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC) will launch three pilgrim specials from Madurai in November and December.
The pilgrim specials is a new initiative of the Indian Railways, as announced in the latest railway budget. IRCTC has already flagged off two pilgrim specials from Bangalore and Puducherry.
The third in the series and first from Madurai, ‘Viswaroopa Darshan,’ will chug out on November 28.

The train will cover pilgrim centres like Mahakaleswar – Omkareshwar – Dwaraka – Bet Dwaraka – Nageswar – Somnath – Bhimshankar and is routed through Madurai, Erode and Chennai Central.
The second train, called as ‘Aganda Barath,’ covering Goa, Hyderabad and Kolkata, will start from Madurai on December 10. It will go via Tirunelveli, Nagarcoil and Kerala, said L Ravikumar, additional general manager, tourism, IRCTC.
The third train originating from Madurai, Guru Krupa Yatra, covering Shirdi, Pandharpur and Mantralayam, would start on December 12, he said.
