MDMK refutes BJP claim on Chinese lighter spare parts ban

Madurai: MDMK's principal secretary and Trichy MP, Durai Vaiko, refuted the claims of BJP state general secretary, Raama Srinivasan, about the state govt and chief minister Stalin having no role in the Union govt restricting the imports of spare parts of Chinese lighters.
Durai Vaiko said that after the match manufacturers approached him, he took up the issue with chief minister M K Stalin on April 21, 2022, and MDMK leader Vaiko spoke on this issue at the Rajya Sabha on Dec 9, 2022. Besides, MoS for Commerce and Industry, Anupriya Patel, responded in the Rajya Sabha that the ministry received a letter from Tamil Nadu dated Sept 8, 2022, requesting a ban on Chinese lighters. However, Srinivasan, hiding all these facts, is spreading false information for cheap politics, said Durai Vaiko.
