Home-alone woman robbed of cash, jewels worth ₹4.6 lakh

Unidentified miscreants decamped with cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 4.6 lakh, after tying the hands and legs of a lone woman in a house at Arasikatte in Naravi village in Belthangady taluk of Venur police station limits on Saturday.

Mangaluru/ Udupi: Unidentified miscreants decamped with cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 4.6 lakh, after tying the hands and legs of a lone woman in a house at Arasikatte in Naravi village in Belthangady taluk of Venur police station limits on Saturday.
According to the police, Prabhavathi Naika, 67, was alone in her house when four masked men barged into her house and demanded gold ornaments on Saturday evening.

Later, her hands and legs were tied and cloth was stuffed into her mouth.
The miscreants forcefully took ornaments that she was wearing along with gold ornaments that she had placed in her room and Rs 10,000. The value of the total stolen property is Rs 4.6 lakh.
A case under IPC Section 394 has been registered at Venur police station.
Woman stung by bee, dies
A woman reportedly died after she was stung by a bee on Friday.
According to police, the deceased is Sampa, 53, of Paduthonse. The woman, at around 10 am, was in the field to get fodder for the cattle. When she returned after an hour, she informed her family that she was stung by a bee. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and returned home after being treated.
However, when her health condition worsened later in the day, she was rushed to another private hospital again, where she died. An unnatural death report has been registered at the Malpe police station.
