Court rejects bail for brothers in ex-MP assault case
court story
Bijnor: A Bijnor court has denied bail to three brothers, Talib, Khalid and Abid, accused of attacking former MP Bharatendra Singh. Presiding over the case, additional district and sessions judge Alka Chaudhary heard the arguments. The prosecution, Pankaj Chauhan, successfully argued against their release, detailing how the men abused the former MP, issued death threats and opened fire with the intent to kill.Furthermore, the state highlighted a secondary attempt by the trio to snatch a carbine from a police guard during the altercation. The incident took place on April 1, when an inspection team found a sawmill operating illegally despite being officially sealed.Singh arrived there, triggering a violent outburst from the brothers. While defense claimed the charges were politically motivated, the court deemed the offence “too grave for bail”.Arrested on April 2, the three men will remain in judicial custody as legal proceedings continue.
