Meerut: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the complete 82-km Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor on Sunday, seven years after he laid the foundation stone of the country's first Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) project. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath visited Meerut on Saturday to review preparations for the event, which will include a public rally.
The Rs 30,270-crore corridor, launched on March 8, 2019, was commissioned in phases. Commercial services began on the Sahibabad–Duhai stretch on Oct 20, 2023, followed by the 17-km extension to Modinagar North in March 2024. The Sahibabad–Ashok Nagar section opened in Jan 2025.

With Sunday's inauguration, the final 26-km stretch—from New Ashok Nagar to Sarai Kale Khan and Meerut South to Modipuram—will become operational, completing the entire corridor. The Prime Minister will also flag off the 23-km Meerut Metro, with 13 stations, from Shatabdi Nagar station and take a metro ride to Meerut South.
Modi is also scheduled to inaugurate and dedicate development projects worth around Rs 13,000 crore before addressing the gathering.
