Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) has alleged that to pacify its functionaries and office-bearers ahead of polls, MahaYuti govt has appointed over 50 functionaries from
BJP, Shiv Sena and
NCP to 27 newly formed state-run corporations just before the model code of conduct (MCC) was announced.
Sena (UBT) alleged that all these appointments violate the model code of conduct and must be stayed by the
Election Commission (EC). Sena (UBT) MLC and LoP Ambadas Danve said he will take up the issue with the EC.
"All appointments done on the day the MCC was announced are illegal. It doesn't matter what date the orders were issued. The fact that these orders were published on Oct 15 when the MCC was announced means that they are illegal and bad in law. The EC must seek a report from chief secretary Sujata Saunik on the exact date when these orders and GRs were issued. This is nothing but a desperate attempt by MahaYuti govt to retain their office bearers who are on the verge of quitting and joining MVA. But these desperate measures can't save this govt," Danve said.
In the last cabinet meeting, the govt announced two dedicated corporations to uplift economically weaker sections of the Brahmin and Rajput communities. It allocated Rs 50 crore to each community. The 'Parashuram Economic Development Corporation' is for the Brahmin caste and the 'Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap Economic Development Corporation' for the Rajput community. Interestingly, NCP functionary Captain Ashish Damle was appointed chairperson of 'Parashuram Economic Development Corporation, irking BJP functionaries as it has a base in the Brahmin community. Many from the three MahaYuti parties have been named chairpersons, deputy chairpersons and members of such community welfare corporations.
