Elderly woman found murdered in Kalyan flat

KALYAN: A 75-year-old woman was found murdered inside a flat on the fourth floor in Khandelwal Sadan near Gurudev Hotel in Kalyan (W) on Sunday morning. The police suspect her domestic help, Ramdutt Shrivas, robbed her and later killed her. Shrivas has been missing since the murder.
The woman has been identified as Premlata Hajarimal Khandelwal. Premlata used to stay on the third floor in the same building.The flat in which she was found dead is also owned by her family.
Some of her relatives stay in the same building. The crime came to light after foul smell emanating from Premlata’s house prompted her relatives to check in on her safety.
According to the investigators, Premlata was murdered two days ago.
Premlata’s relative, Rajkumar Khandelwal, said, “Initially, we thought that some rat had died but later realized that the odour was coming from her flat. We opened the door to her flat and found her body lying in a pool of blood.”
“Premlata used to wear gold ornaments, but we found none on her body. We suspect that Shrivas killed as he has been missing since the last two-three days,” Rajkumar added.
The Mahatma Phule police have registered a murder and robbery case.
