All malls, government and private offices, transport facilities and other services barring essential services related to saving life of the people, will remain closed across the state as chief minister Ashok Gehlot issued orders of complete lockdown of the state to contain the spread of Covid-19. The complete lockdown will remain in effect till Match 31.

Localised shortages of essential items like milk, bread, eggs and restaurant food marked the first day of the city's coronavirus lockdown. A complete closure is expected Sunday owing to the PM's 'Janata Curfew' followed by a period of dormancy over the next few days until March 31.

Andhra Pradesh registered two more COVID-19 positive cases on Saturday, taking the tally to five. According to the health department officials, the patient 4 (22-year-old) from East Godavari travelled from London to Hyderabad on March 18 and then to Rajahmundry on the same day. On the other hand, the patient 5 from Krishna district, aged 24, arrived in New Delhi on March 15 from Paris. He had then travelled to Hyderabad and subsequently to Vijayawada on March 17. He was admitted to the isolation ward on March 20 and tested positive on Saturday

To discourage senior citizens travelling in its buses, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) on Saturday temporarily withdrew the 25% concession. Elderly citizens are the most vulnerable to Covid-19. Indian railways too recently suspended concessions for senior citizens. BMRCL on Saturday too decided to restrict senior citizens. Metro passengers aged 60 and above and children below 10 will be barred from boarding them.

Five fresh coronavirus cases have been reported in Karnataka on Saturday, taking the total number to 20 in the state, the Health department said. "Till date 20 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state which includes one death," it said in a bulletin. It said 18 positive patients are in isolation at designated hospitals and are stable. Sharing details of the new cases, the department said three are from Bengaluru, while the other two are from Chikkaballapura and Mysuru.

About 40 mail/express trains originating from Lucknow divisions of North Eastern Railway (NER) and Northern Railway (NR) will not operate between 4am and 10pm on March 22 (Sunday). This is in addition to all passenger trains that would be suspended between the midnight of March 21 and 10pm on March 22. Some of the most prominent mail/express trains from Lucknow operate in the time slot railways has chosen for cancellation.

Three of four persons who tested positive for coronavirus in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh were on Saturday booked under various sections for willfully hiding a life-threatening infection. Officials informed they not only endangered their own lives, but that of the entire city too. Those charged included a couple and their daughter. There is panic in Jabalpur, over coronavirus pandemic after this family was found to be hiding the deadly viral infection. They tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on Friday.

A 57-year-old man with no history of travelling abroad tested positive for novel coronavirus in West Bengal, making it the fourth confirmed case in the state, a health department official said on Saturday. The resident of Dumdum in North 24 Parganas district was admitted to a private hospital on Monday with fever and dry cough. His symptoms intensified since Thursday, according to the official.

Three research scholars with a travel history to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) who left the isolation facility at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) were traced by police to their homes in from Jammu & Kashmir. They are now quarantined in Baramulla district hospital in the valley, AMU spokesperson Shafey Kidwai has confirmed. The research scholars claimed that they had informed their research supervisors and taken a train home.

Both Western Railway (WR) and Central Raikway (CR) will run around 40 percent less services while Metro and Mono rail services will be completely shut due to call of Janata curfew by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. WR spokesperson said, "Only 801 services of WR will be run on Mumbai Suburban section as against 1278 on Sunday. We request commuters to stay indoor and step out only when it is urgent." CR spokesperson said, " We will run 1100 services which is 60% of the average suburban services. All Aman lodge to Matheran services will remain cancelled too." There will be no mega block on CR and WR.
