MUMBAI: Whet your appetite for the Kala Ghoda Festival in February with a brief version that will take place between October 30 and November 2. This is the third time that the Kala Ghoda Association (KGA) has organised a teaser to the main festival. "The idea is to keep the festival vibrant throughout the year so that people can come to see culture free of cost,'' said Pallavi Sharma, KGA's chief executive.
The festival will have 80 arts and crafts stalls and performances by artists such as Jagjit Singh, Niladri Kumar, Gary Lawyer and Shilpa Rao.
Most of the artists, said Sharma, will be performing at the Kala Ghoda Festival for the first time. Among the attractions are sitar player Kumar who will render a playful concert of `sitarfunk', dancing partners Priti Gupta and Shannon Benjamin, Rakesh Pandit who will perform qawwalis, and flautist Ronu Majumdar. The festival will also have a children's section. For more information, log on to www.kalaghodaassociation.com/images/kgfoi.jpg.
