MUMBAI: Actor Om Puri told the sessions court on Wed-nesday that the altercation between him and his estranged wife Nandita started after she insisted on gifting an expensive mobile phone to the maid's daughter.
Puri alleged that he had refused to do so, following which an argument ensued on August 21. Nandita wanted to gift the girl as she had tied a rakhi on her son's wrist.

A sessions court on Wednesday adjourned the anticipatory bail hearing of Puri to Friday. The actor was granted interim relief until then. Puri filed an application in the court on Tuesday, after Nandita filed an assault case against him with the Versova police. Nandita also filed an intervention application in the court.
Both Puri and Nandita were present in court on Wednesday.
The Versova police booked Puri under Sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code.
