Relative denied promotion, NCP woman activist slaps civic babu

ULHASNAGAR: A woman Nationalist Congress Party worker on Tuesday allegedly slapped a senior municipal official from Ulhasnagar for “not promoting her brother-in- law”. The act has been caught on cameras installed at the municipal office.
The woman, Priya Gupta, has been booked. On her part, she alleged that assistant municipal commissioner Yuvraj Badane wanted a bribe to promote Sunil Gupta.She claimed that Badane misbehaved with her as she refused to pay the bribe.
Sunil, a watchman with the municipal office, was seeking a promotion to a clerical post. Priya had approached Badane to facilitate his promotion.
Badane, who sources said is a “strict” officer, told TOI that there was pressure from some Nationalist Congress Party politicians to promote Sunil. “But he does not meet the eligibility criteria,” said Badane.
Priya has lodged a complaint of molestation against Badane while he has lodged a counter-complaint against Priya, Sunil and two of her party politicians who were with her at the time of the incident.
