MUMBAI: Extradited gangster Abu Salem is said to have confessed his role in the murder of Ajit Dewani, former secretary to Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala, by making a statement before a magistrate.
Salem confessed before crime branch sleuths and a magistrate on February 10, and his statement will now be sent to the MCOCA court in a sealed cover on February 13, sources said.

However, DCP (detection) D D Kamalakar said he was unaware about the confession. ���I don't know what Salem has said before the magistrate.
I can just say that we have completed our investigation in this case.''

Dewani was murdered in 2002 allegedly on instructions from Salem. The alleged killers were arrested and are facing trial.
This would be the third case in which Salem has confessed his role, the first being the 1993 bomb blast case and the second, the builder Pradeep Jain's murder case.
