MUMBAI: Officials of Directorate General of Central Excise Intelligence on Thursday arrested Mahendra Manilal Shah, director of Sunrise Stainless, and Snehal Shah, director of its sister concern, Sunrise Tradewings, for duty evasion amounting to Rs 10 crore.
The firms had, in the last five years, indulged in the clandestine removal of steel pipes made by them without issuing invoices and paying duty, officials said.
1x1 polls
Raids were conducted at the firms and at Snehal’s residence. Roughly-prepared delivery challans, a diary and a pen drive with details on the clandestine sales were seized. The firms have evaded income tax, value-added tax and octroi, officials said.
