Two minors gang-rape teen, booked under Pocso

Mumbai: A 16-year-old girl in Vasai was allegedly gang-raped by two minors, including one of her classmates. The teenagers were detained and booked under sections of Pocso.
The sexual abuse began in Aug when the teenager and her classmate, of the same age, got close. The boyfriend took the girl to one of his 17-year-old friend's homes. The boyfriend allegedly engaged in a sexual act with her in the flat. His friend also had sex with her. He recorded the sexual act and then allegedly blackmailed the girl into having a relationship with them on multiple occasions. The girl was called to the home of the 17-year-old friend. When she resisted, they threatened to make the video viral and share it with her classmates and friends.
The girl eventually confided in her mother, who approached the local police recently. The accused teenagers are being questioned. Police said they are examining the accused teenagers' cell phones for the videos of the sexual act. Police said they are investigating if initially the boyfriend's friend shot the video of the sexual act without their knowledge and whether he used it to blackmail both the girl and the boyfriend. Police are investigating if the girl was known to the boyfriend's friend.
Police are also investigating if the boys shared the videos with their other classmates and friends. They studied in Class 11. Cops have visited the crime scene. The families of the accused teenager, in whose home the sexual abuse took place, were believed to be away at work when the crime took place.
The girl's medical examination is underway. The accused teenagers have been charged with gang rape under POCSO and under sections of the Information Technology Act.
The Vasai region has reported several cases of sexual abuse of minors and women in the past few months. Earlier this month, a 13-year-old girl from Vasai was allegedly raped and blackmailed by a 24-year-old man over the past few months. The accused recorded videos of the sexual acts without the girl's knowledge and shared them with his 26-year-old female friend, who used the material to extort Rs 25,000 from the minor. Last month, a 10-year-old girl returning home after witnessing the arrival of a Ganesh idol was allegedly abducted and raped by two men in their late 30s. The men were arrested. Another 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl while a 14-year-old boy allegedly recorded the heinous act on his cellphone.
